Fredericksburg, VA — November 6, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Vantage Data Centers is expanding its presence in Virginia with a $2 billion investment to develop a 192MW data center campus (VA4) in the Fredericksburg region. The project is expected to create 1,100 construction jobs and at least 50 permanent operations jobs.
The VA4 campus will be Vantage’s fourth in Virginia, bringing the company’s statewide capacity to 782MW with a combined investment of approximately $8 billion.
Located in Stafford County, just over an hour from Vantage’s three existing Virginia campuses in Data Center Alley, VA4 will house three data centers on 82 acres, totaling approximately 929,000 square feet. The first building is scheduled to open in late 2027.
The campus will be built to achieve LEED Silver certification and align with Vantage’s “sustainable by design” blueprint, operating with a closed-loop chilled water system that minimizes the need for large volumes of water for cooling and supports Vantage’s low water usage effectiveness (WUE). VA4 will feature liquid-to-liquid cooling with CDU-based equipment capable of handling 100% of IT workloads.
Vantage Data Centers and its general contractor, DPR Construction, hosted a groundbreaking celebration earlier today. Attendees included:
- Luis Lopez Stipes, Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Commonwealth of Virginia
- Meg Bohmke, Falmouth Supervisor, Stafford County
- Don Slaiman, Director of Community Relations, IBEW Local 26
According to Dana Adams, president, North America at Vantage Data Centers, the Fredericksburg region offered a significant opportunity for Vantage to serve customers seeking capacity and access to Data Center Alley resources without being in a high congestion zone. She added that Virginia has been a cornerstone of Vantage’s North American growth since 2017, and the company is pleased to expand its presence to the Fredericksburg region, helping establish it as a meaningful digital hub while contributing to the area’s economic growth and technological advancements.
Darrell English, Hartwood District Stafford County Board of Supervisor, said Vantage Data Centers will create hundreds of jobs and support Stafford’s growing reputation as a technology hub across the Commonwealth, bringing advanced infrastructure that powers the technologies relied on daily while strengthening the local economy and business community.
As Vantage establishes its presence in Fredericksburg and Stafford County, the VA4 campus will serve as a catalyst for regional growth by creating new employment opportunities, driving investment in local businesses, and strengthening the area’s tax base. Beyond the economic impact, Vantage aims to foster lasting partnerships with local organizations to support workforce development and community initiatives. Vantage will collaborate with schools, general contractors, workforce boards, and civic organizations to help prepare residents for careers in the skilled trades and technology sectors while contributing to the region’s overall vitality.
