October 30, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Solid Power, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLDP) collaborates with Samsung SDI and BMW to develop and validate a demonstration vehicle powered by all-solid-state battery (ASSB) technology.
The collaboration will bring together the expertise of three industry leaders. Solid Power will supply sulfide-based solid electrolyte to Samsung SDI. Samsung SDI will integrate this into separator and/or catholyte and use to build cells, pending the achievement of technical requirements. These cells will be evaluated based on performance parameters and requirements agreed upon by Samsung SDI and BMW. The goal is to develop and supply ASSB cells for integration into a demonstration vehicle.
Solid Power’s President and CEO, John Van Scoter, said the company is excited to partner with Samsung SDI and BMW to advance ASSB technology. The BMW Group’s Vice President of Battery Cell and Cell Module, Martin Schuster, noted that Samsung SDI’s involvement would accelerate the development of new battery cell technologies.
All-solid-state battery cells have the potential to improve energy density, battery life, and safety performance. Samsung SDI’s Executive Vice President, Stella Joo-Young Go, emphasized that technological competitiveness in batteries would drive innovation in electric vehicles, and Samsung SDI intends to lead in commercializing ASSB through strategic partnerships.
This collaboration supports Solid Power’s goal to manufacture and sell electrolyte to Tier 1 battery manufacturers and automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
