MindBio Develops AI Platform for Intoxication Detection in Mining
Vancouver, British Columbia — February 18, 2026 — Leads & Copy — MindBio Therapeutics Corp. (CSE: MBIO) is developing a proprietary edge computing platform, including dedicated hardware, for large-scale deployment in the mining industry.
The biotechnology company, which commercializes AI-driven voice analytics for drug and alcohol intoxication detection, is working with an experienced engineering firm to design and manufacture the integrated Edge AI solution for real-time, on-device voice analysis in remote environments.
Prototype development is nearing completion, with hardware manufacturing and field-ready deployment expected in Q2 2026.
The MindBio hardware device will be sold direct and via distribution channels and will include a recurring revenue stream for use of the installed software, the Voice AI intoxication detection models developed by MindBio.
MindBio is actively pursuing enterprise-level commercialization opportunities, with its first targeted deployment focused on the mining sector. The company has initiated operations in South America and deployed engineering personnel to support development of an industry-specific testing protocol.
MindBio is collaborating with mining operators and health authorities in Chile to align its technology with existing regulatory frameworks, where government-mandated drug and alcohol testing is in place.
The Edge AI platform is expected to support scalable deployment across additional safety-critical industries, including aviation and heavy industrial sectors, where zero-tolerance policies exist but current testing methods are invasive, episodic, and costly.
Workforce studies in Chile indicate alcohol consumption among mining workers exceeds 75%, with more than 40% classified as problem drinkers and approximately 9% reporting drug use across a workforce of more than 200,000 individuals (ACHS, 2012; SENDA, 2024). Internationally, 20–25% of occupational accidents are estimated to be directly or indirectly linked to substance use (International Labour Organization, 1996; 2022; Gomez et al., 2002). These data underscore a significant global market opportunity for scalable, non-invasive intoxication detection technologies.
CEO Justin Hanka said MindBio is leveraging its position in AI-powered voice diagnostics to develop workplace health and safety solutions addressing drug and alcohol impairment. He added that the company is encouraged by early industry engagement and looks forward to initial deployment in Chile’s mining sector, followed by broader expansion across South America and other global markets.
MindBio is a biotechnology company commercializing AI prediction technologies for drug and alcohol intoxication detection via voice analysis. The AI prediction model uses over 50 million data points to predict alcohol intoxication with accuracy, just by using the human voice. The Company is now collecting data that will allow its prediction tool to work on other types of intoxication for use in consumer and enterprise environments.
