KANSAS CITY, Mo. — November 3, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Evergy, a major Midwest utility serving 1.7 million customers, has chosen Kigen’s secure eSIM OS and eIM to enhance grid reliability through automated failover across private and public networks.
The adoption of Kigen’s technology unifies private LTE and public networks, establishing a connectivity layer for more reliable operations amid severe weather, increasing energy demand, and the complexities of distributed energy resources. Evergy’s LTE network, which spans 100 sites and supports thousands of IoT sensors and AMI devices, will benefit from seamless failover between networks, crucial for maintaining uninterrupted device data and grid visibility.
Bill Franzen, lead radio engineer at Evergy, emphasized that the Kigen eSIMs and eIM, configured to Evergy’s needs, enable a new benchmark in grid resiliency, which is essential for dynamic billing and AI applications. Vincent Korstanje, CEO at Kigen, noted that the solution supports improved reliability, resilience, and operational intelligence, providing a foundation for AI, dynamic billing, and DER integration as utilities navigate the energy transition.
Kigen’s eIM solution was named 2025 IoT Solution of the Year by the Mobile Breakthrough Awards and will be showcased at UBBA Plugfest and Enlit Europe.
