Ballard Power Systems (TSX: BLDP) Wins $42M EU Transit Contracts as Hydrogen Adoption Grows

BURNABY, B.C. — Ballard Power Systems Inc. has secured new supply agreements with European transit operators for its hydrogen fuel cell modules, reinforcing its leadership in zero-emission mobility.

The TSX-listed company will deliver its FCmove-HD+ modules to bus fleets in Germany, France, and the Netherlands under contracts valued at US$42 million. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q1 2026, with full deployment expected by year-end.

“These orders reinforce our leadership in the European transit market,” said CEO Randy MacEwen. “Hydrogen is gaining traction as a scalable solution for heavy-duty mobility.”

Ballard designs and manufactures proton exchange membrane fuel cells for buses, trucks, trains, and marine vessels. Headquartered in Burnaby, B.C., the company operates in over 15 countries and maintains joint ventures in China, along with partnerships with Audi and Siemens.

Shares of BLDP have risen 14 per cent since October 1, reversing a multi-quarter decline. Analysts cite improving margins and a diversified order book as key drivers of renewed investor confidence.
